Palmyra Lookout is Telluride’s newest alpine ceremony gem—a high-altitude, handcrafted mountain stage where nature becomes the backdrop, and intimacy meets adventure. I’ve photographed several couples at this particular venue, and I must say it is easily my favorite!
This beautiful wedding venue with 360 degree views is nestled at 11,200 ft elevation atop the Polar Queen Express/Lift 5 near Bon Vivant restaurant. Palmyra Lookout is a ceremony-only site surrounded by pine forest, a natural stone platform, and sweeping mountain panoramas including those of Palmyra Peak and Wilson Peak.
About the Venue
The venue can hold approximately 150 guests and is available June through September ( summer season only).
Pricing for Palmyra can change throughout the wedding summer season, usually being the most economical during week days and most expensive in the height of Telluride’s fall colors (end of September.)
- Monday–Thursday: approximately $3,000–$4,000
- Friday–Sunday: approximately $4,000–$6,000, often with restaurant buyout required for reception
- Some sources list starting cost $5,000 for 4-hour rental
When you book Palmyra Lookout there is a reception pairing REQUIRED on busy weekends. Some of Tellurides reception options include the following: Allred’s Restaurant, Gorrono Ranch, Tomboy Tavern, Timber room and The Peaks Resort & Spa.
Another aspect to note is that guests cannot drive. They must use gondolas, mountain limo or off-road transport. A local planner/coordinator is mandatory.

Couple Jane & Mark described Palmyra Lookout as “secluded, adventurous, and meaningful,” perfectly blending intimacy with the ability to include loved ones. They hosted ~30 people, a guitar-accompanied ceremony, and photos followed by the gondola ride back for dinner and dancing in Mountain Village Visit Telluride.
Another example: Kelsey & Roger held a July ceremony at Palmyra Lookout with vibrant florals and details, then continued the celebration with sunset views at Gorrono Ranch reception, capturing the venue’s natural beauty and joyful ambiance in photos Lisa Marie Wright Photography.
