Once a working sheep ranch, this historic lodge has been transformed into one of Telluride’s most beloved wedding destinations, where couples can celebrate surrounded by the magic of the San Juan Mountains. As a photographer, I always look for a venue that has an amazing location for sunset photos, and Gorrono ranch does not disappoint! Whether in the field above the venue or looking back towards the sun from the deck itself, Gorrono is a dream for both clients and photographers.
Arriving at Gorrono Ranch
Perched halfway up the mountain, Gorrono Ranch feels like a hidden retreat. In winter, guests arrive by snowcat open air sleighs that wind through quiet, snow-draped forests. In summer and fall, shuttles or jeeps carry guests up the mountain to the lodge, revealing views that grow more breathtaking with every turn. Getting to the venue is an adventure itself! 🙂
The Ceremony Setting
Couples can exchange vows outdoors with the dramatic backdrop of Wilson Peak (the mountain on the Coors Light can). In the summer, wildflowers scatter across the slopes, while in the fall, golden aspens frame the view with brilliance. Winter ceremonies are cozy and intimate, with snowflakes often swirling like nature’s confetti.

Inside the Ranch

In the colder months, fires roar in the hearths, adding a cozy glow to the celebration. In warmer seasons, guests spill onto the decks, watching stars appear one by one in the vast mountain sky.
Now there is also an option to add a tent on the upper deck to avoid inclement weather concerns and bring guests in closer as the dance party begins.
